How to restore WhatsApp messages on a new phone

WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging application globally, but what happens when you switch phones? Are chats lost? This guide explains how not to lose any messages exchanged using WhatsApp. It should be noted that the steps to follow will vary depending on the operating system of the two phones used for the chat migration. It is also advisable to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network before starting the backup operation to avoid excessive connection costs that could occur when transferring a large amount of data.

How to restore WhatsApp messages on a new phone?

If you are using an Android smartphone, you can try to restore WhatsApp conversations without using backups or special apps for data recovery, as in Undeleter Recover Files & Data.

Save chats on Android

The procedure to be used for two Android smartphones is very similar to that illustrated in the previous step: in this case, you must use the same Google account and start a backup on Google Drive. Within WhatsApp, press the menu button, “Settings,” “Chat,” “Chat backup.” Once the procedure is completed, the SIM is inserted into the other Android smartphone, together with the Google and Google Drive credentials, and the chats are restored, always within WhatsApp.

Save chats on Windows Phone

As for Windows Phone, the steps to follow are always similar to those illustrated above, and as you can well imagine, the cloud service where our chats will be saved changes: in this case, it is OneDrive. Just open WhatsApp, select “More,” “Settings,” “Chats and calls,” Backup. “You can also save chats to the SD card if present on your phone. Save chats on two different operating systems

If two smartphones with different operating systems are used, the procedure is more complicated, as the backups that are created are different from each other.
